Support Catholic Education Across the Diocese

For many families, choosing a school is about more than academics. It is about finding a community that supports their child’s growth, nurtures their gifts, and shares their values.

Through Alabama’s Accountability Act (AAA) scholarship program, Alabama taxpayers have the opportunity to help make those choices possible by redirecting a portion of their state tax liability to support scholarships for eligible students through an approved scholarship granting organization (SGO).

One question we often hear from donors is: “Can I choose the school or student my contribution supports?”

The answer is no, and that is an important part of how the program works.

Under Alabama law, contributions made through an SGO cannot be restricted or conditioned by the donor. This means donors cannot require an SGO to direct their contribution to a specific qualifying school or provide a scholarship to a particular student.

This requirement helps ensure that the scholarship program remains fair, transparent, and accessible to eligible families across Alabama.

While donors cannot designate a specific school or student, their generosity still has a tremendous impact.

Every scholarship funded represents a family receiving greater access to educational opportunities. Every contribution helps more students find schools where they can thrive academically, spiritually, and personally.

Today, thousands of Alabama students remain on scholarship waiting lists because the need continues to exceed available resources. Families are seeking schools that provide strong academics, character formation, and a supportive community where their children can grow.

When you contribute through C2 Opportunity Scholarship Fund, you are helping provide opportunities for students throughout the Diocese of Birmingham. You are investing in families, strengthening communities, and supporting educational options that serve the whole child.
